Peter and Patty Cooke, owners of Pickering House Inn, drew from their own experiences at luxury boutique hotels and inns when they created Pickering House. The Cookes envisioned a special place where they would like to stay themselves – a place with a relaxed feel, an attentive (but not hovering) staff, distinctive interiors, luxurious furnishings, boutique amenities, and a great downtown location within walking distance of Lake Winnipesaukee. The result is being one of the few properties in New Hampshire to receive national recognition. It has been named to the list of top hotels in New England by the readers of  Condé Nast Traveler and for the third year in a row, named by Travel + Leisure Magazine World's Best Awards for New England, the United States and the World.

Pickering House Inn is the realization of the Cookes’ vision.

Refreshment areas are located throughout the inn so you can help yourself to beverages as well as morning and afternoon snacks.

The Inn was designed to make guests feel at home. Relax with a book on the wraparound porch, sip a glass of wine around one of the outdoor fire pits, play a board game in The Library, chat with new friends in The Living Room or just hang out in Pickering’s Kitchen.

Craft beers and selected wines are available for your enjoyment.

Stroll next door and enjoy an extraordinary dinner at the PAVILION restaurant. Founded by the same team behind Pickering House Inn, PAVILION takes Wolfeboro dining to a new level. As of 2023, PAVILION now features Executive Chef / Owner Chris Viaud and his culinary team, Inn guests may make dinner reservations before they are available to the general public. Please remember that especially in the busier months PAVILION reservations are hard to come by and that we cannot guarantee dining availability for reservation requests made less than 30 days of your stay (when PAVILION opens their reservations to the public).

If you are content with a book or a game, then our Library is as far as you need roam. We have many options for private dining, from seating for a small group in Pickering’s Kitchen (our gathering kitchen), to larger events in The Barn at Pickering House, to — new in 2021 — private dining in The Avery Room (and Porch) at PAVILION restaurant right next door.

From our popular Innkeeper’s Suppers to unique Tasting Dinners, we host a varied array of dinner events  in The Barn at Pickering House - open to our In guests as well as the public.

In The Avery Room (located above PAVILION), smaller, more intimate tasting and dining events are often scheduled. These special events are a fun addition to your Pickering House and Wolfeboro experience.
