2 min read

For a memorable restaurant experience in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Samuel Avery’s Tavern brings together seasonal cooking, warm hospitality and a setting with deep local character. Located at 126 South Main Street next to Pickering House, Avery’s offers an intimate, refined place to gather for dinner in the heart of town.

Our approach begins with food that reflects the season. Under the direction of Chef Brian, Samuel Avery’s Tavern serves made-from-scratch dishes prepared with fresh, regional ingredients. The menu includes thoughtfully composed small plates, soups, salads and larger entrées, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, balance and elevated simplicity. Because the menu follows the seasons, returning guests can experience new flavors throughout the year.

The setting is part of what makes dining at Avery’s distinctive. The Samuel Avery Building dates to 1835 and was originally constructed as a general goods store. For over nearly two centuries it served several purposes before an extensive renovation restored its historic character and created the home of Samuel Avery’s Tavern. Today, the building pairs that history with the welcoming atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern and the polish of a refined Wolfeboro dining experience.

In warmer weather, guests can enjoy outdoor dining on The Patio at Avery’s beneath the glow of string lights. Wednesday evenings also feature acoustic music by Brad Myrick, adding live music to the atmosphere indoors and on the patio. Patio seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

Avery’s location makes dinner an easy part of an evening in downtown Wolfeboro. Guests can spend the day exploring local shops, the waterfront and other things to do in Wolfeboro before joining us for dinner. Set near Lake Winnipesaukee in a town known as America’s oldest summer resort, Avery’s offers a natural place to finish a day spent enjoying the Lakes Region. Travelers staying in nearby Pickering House guest rooms can also enjoy the convenience of having Avery’s just next door.

Samuel Avery’s Tavern is open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with the last seating at 8:30 p.m. Whether gathering for a relaxed dinner, celebrating an occasion or simply enjoying an evening in town, we look forward to welcoming you to a restaurant experience rooted in the flavors, history and hospitality of Wolfeboro.
