GUEST REVIEWS

I have to tell you, we had the absolute best experience at Pickering House.

The whole interior was beautifully designed, with just the right mix of original detail and modern touches. The rooms were quiet and very well-appointed. Every member of the hotel team was more than helpful and always available to give advice on activities or bring a drink or a snack, but somehow we never felt like we were being hovered over. Barbara and Andrea in particular were the stars of our trip. Each of them had such thoughtful recommendations for the different things to do around Wolfeboro, and they were both just so pleasant to speak with. Finally, the breakfasts were amazing! We will be coming back, and we will be sending our family and friends as well

Wonderful stay at the beautiful inn.

The inn itself was renovated and no attention to detail was missed - extraordinary. The staff and location within an easy walk to the dock, rail trail and center was great. Breakfast was also outstanding. We travel over to Castle in the Clouds to hike as well as enjoyed a ride on the Mt. Washington.

Impeccable stay at Pickering House.

They have thought of everything! Comfortable beds, wonderful bathrooms, amazing breakfast and cookies! The staff is great and you can tell they care about the guests and that guests have the best experience possible. We can not wait to return!

We chose Pickering House Inn for our Fall New England Adventure.

We were drawn to Wolfeboro because it offers a true Autumn experience as it borders Lake Winnipesaukee, close to Kancamagus Highway, Moulton Farms (best donuts), Sandwich, Castle in the Clouds, just to name a few. The Inn is absolutely beautiful with an upscale, yet very warm feel. The decor is thoughtful and perfectly balanced. Our room was spacious, with farmhouse furniture, mounted smart TV, amazing bathroom with a mounted, self controlled water thermostat. Breakfasts were delicious and Chef Adam was very gracious. Fresh mini muffins and cookies were set out for the guests. We have stayed in many beautiful, upscale Inns in the past ten years, but the Pickering House Inn outshines any of these. Yes, the Pickering House Inn is a magnificent, cozy homestead to return to after a busy day of adventures, and what truly sets it apart from all, are the people. The PHI staff were welcoming, friendly, sincere, accommodating and truly interested in their guests. After our first, very long and busy day of adventures, the staff member greeted us with such warmth and excitement to learn about our day. Furthermore, she saved the

Beyond Expectations

Perfection. Meticulous attention to design detail, warm and helpful staff, delicious and friendly breakfast. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed. As was the entire inn. And clean - there is not a square inch of this property that doesn't gleam. Patty made certain to interact with each guest. Be certain to have dinner at Pavillion. A wonderful experience. We will be back, no question.

Attention to Detail. Complete Focus on Quality!!

If attention to detail, exceptional unparalleled service, beautiful landscaping, big market design and surfaces, quality food, comfortable care, and a staff that ALL act like they own the property, then chops Pickering House Inn! Our stay was nothing less than extraordinary!!! World class, small New England, quaint and classy experiences!!!!

Wonderful Experience

This Inn has the WOW factor!
We spent 2 nights in Room 7 which is a large, modernly furnished room with double vanity & shower en-suite. The inn is beautifully decorated throughout and very comfortable. On our first night we had dinner in The Pavilion and were not disappointed - fine dining at its best.
Breakfast each morning was served in the galley kitchen. A freshly cooked hot dish, either sweet or savoury (alternating days), was prepared to order by chef Andrew, and was both very tasty and filling.
The service at the inn is outstanding and in particular Andrea & Barbara could not have done more to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.
Overall a wonderful stay and great experience. We would certainly return to this Inn if back in Wolfeboro. Highly recommended.

The hospitality at the Pickering House Inn is stellar!

They are so great at making you feel at home from the moment you arrive and go above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience you can. We will certainly go back when our schedule permits!

The Pickering House is such an incredible place to stay.
The owners, the staff, the whole experience are amazing. This is the place to stay in Wolfeboro! Don't miss out!!!

Don’t come to the hotel because you’re visiting Wolfeboro. Come to Wolfeboro because you’re visiting Pickering House!!

This place is stunning… architecture and design plus exceptional service.

Magical.

Let me first say that I really do not like online reviews because they can be so manipulated by people. But our stay at Pickering was so wonderful that it overrides my usual hesitancy to write a review. Emma, Andrea, Barbara, Patty, Andrew....and others whose names we did not learn - you all are excellent! The room was, as other reviewers say, immaculate. The scent of fresh baked muffins floats throughout, and every detail is thought of. The renovation of the original home is impeccably done, and the decor (Patty!) is stunning. We spent time in both living rooms, the working dining room, the firepit, under the tree in Adirondack chairs, and the community kitchen, soaking all of it up. More than anything, though, it was the personal feel that the staff gave us - remembering to freshly brew decaf in the morning, texting us an answer to a question during our out of house adventure one day, storing medication for me in the fridge, changing our dinner reservations on our behalf seamlessly, chatting with Patty as she hung 4th of July decor on the porch....I could go on. This trip will stay in my memories always. I hope to make it back at other times of the year to enjoy Pickering House Inn!

I have traveled all over the world for business and for leisure and will say that a stay at the Pickering House Inn is nothing short of magnificent.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights (room #9 - highly recommended) and could not have imagined a more perfect experience. The Inn itself has been diligently restored and surrounds you with an understated splendor. Aside from the property, what truly separates The Pickering House apart is the Ownership and the Staff. We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with both Peter and Patty during our stay. They take a lot of pride in the sanctuary that they have established in Wolfeboro (deservingly so) and are eager to get honest feedback from their guests. Engaging with the staff every day was like spending time with old friends who you haven't seen in years. Barbara, Andrea, Emma, Lindsey, and Andrew are so welcoming, accommodating, and kind and much like Peter and Patty, they take pride in what they do. The dining experience at Pavillion is much like staying at the Inn - well designed and executed perfectly. Taylor was a pleasure to have as a server and our only regret was waiting until our last night at the restaurant to try the Pavilion Pinot Nior - which has now been a nice addition to our wine cooler. Our entire stay was perfect and we fondly look forward to returning to the Pickering House Inn again as soon as possible.

Wow! We could not have been happier with our stay at the Pickering House Inn. Based on some research, we had pretty high expectations, but came in with a measured mindset, as you never know what a new place will be like. We absolutely loved every aspect of the inn, from the property itself, the furnishings, the location, the staff and more. It was a great getaway and I cannot imagine there is a better choice in the greater NH and New England area. We had no idea about the recent award it had won in Travel and Leisure, but it is obvious as to why it was selected. The details that went into the preservation of this property to create the Inn over a 2 year process was amazing - every small thing thought through. We highly recommend experiencing it for yourself!

I booked my stay after reading about the inn's #1 hotel in New England and #3 inn in the US so had very high expectations heading into our weekend away. The Pickering House Inn did not disappoint! The staff was welcoming, accommodating and knowledgeable; they not only ensured my time at the inn was enjoyable, but went above and beyond providing recommendations and boutique concierge services. This allowed us to make the most of Wolfeboro, Castle in the Clouds, and amazing dining (PAVILION is not to be missed!). Highly recommend ensuring that you have time to read a good book with a glass of wine on the inn's picturesque porch or by the lovely common spaces with a fireplace. We will be back!

This was one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed at.

I had this idea that I wanted to come to the Pickering House and to Wolfeboro and contorted our itinerary to do so. It was magnificent and we are talking about how and when we can get back. Peter was a gracious host. The food at the farm to table restaurant (dinner & breakfast) was phenomenal. Just a wonderful place.

One of my best travel stays ever!

So much passion went into the restoration process and clearly it paid off. If you love history, restoration, architecture, or design this is the place for you.

Having just returned home after a three night stay for our anniversary weekend getaway, it is a pleasure to share this review expressing the highest possible accolades! It’s no secret, the labor of love that has gone into The Pickering House Inn is nothing short of tremendous. The level of comfort, amenities, charm, and so very many intangibles, makes a stay here a feast for all the senses, while providing an oasis of calm, quiet, and relaxation. Breakfast was a great way to start each day with offerings such as french toast, eggs benedict, waffles, sausage, and bacon, to prepare for a day around the greater Wolfeboro region, or to simply retire to one of the perfectly comfortable sitting rooms with coffee and your book or newspaper. A meal at Pavilion, the inn’s own fine-dining restaurant is a fitting bookend to the day. And while there is so much to be said for the simple pleasures provided at The Pickering House Inn, the true reward of a stay comes from the warmth, kindness, and joy experienced simply by getting to know those who help keep the place running, prepare the delicious breakfasts, or who are close by to always ensure your needs are met in the most amiable way possible. To have gotten to know Sean, Colby, Mike, and others, is to have made a nice weekend at the inn into an unforgettable experience in the comforts of an amazing home, with all the warmth and charm of newly found friends you can’t wait to see again very soon!

The Pickering Inn was perfect!

What an amazing job Patty and Peter Cook did in making it such a special place. We will be back!

WOW!!!! What a fantastic experience!!!!

Our family and friends booked four rooms all of which were exceptional!!! The Pickering House was beautifully remodeled, great service and good food. The rooms were very well done with quaint touches and modern updated amenities, the staff and owner were extremely attentive and the garden areas were very well maintained with beautiful flowers that even had color in early October!! If you are looking for a quaint historic hotel which also provides high end modern finishes and amenities the Pickering House is it!!!

A beautiful Inn in the heart of Wolfeboro, NH.

The daily breakfast was delicious, and our room was spectacular, with a cozy gas fireplace, and a gorgeous bathroom with a magnificent electric shower. Coffee and tea station outside our door with yummy breakfast items was a nice way to start our day. The two dinners we had at their restaurant, The Pavilion, were noteworthy. The owners and staff were great, and we can’t wait to return to this beautiful place!

100% would recommend staying at the Pickering House.

The building and grounds are clean, cozy and beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous. Bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Couldn’t say enough good things about our stay. Michael was beyond welcoming, and had so many great recommendations for not only food but adventures. Can’t wait to stay there again. You will not be disappointed.

The Pickering House Inn was superb in every way.

The owners and staff were very very friendly and informative. The owners and staff had suggestions for restaurants and activities. The room was impeccable. The breakfast was great. Absolutely no complaints.

A definite 5 star quality experience!

Every detail was exquisite from the rooms to the delicious breakfast each morning to the gracious hosts and staff. It is located within walking distance to most of the attractions of this quaint lakeside town.

Pickering House is absolutely everything you’d expect it to be.

The renovation of this beautiful Inn was impeccable with beautiful attention to detail. Every room is beautiful with details like heated bathroom floors. The welcome and service was just wonderful with a fantastic breakfast each morning. The owners were both on site and very friendly. Cameron the house manager was incredibly helpful. Dinner at The Pavilion also exceeded our expectations. What a gem in Wolfeboro!

Beautifully decorated Inn and rooms with luxurious touches.

Delicious gourmet breakfast each morning (examples include lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries, lemon curd, hot maple syrup and fresh whipped cream and caramelized onion, spinach and feta strata with maple sausage and toast). There is a drink bar leading into the library with citrus water and coffee. The library is stocked with books and games. We stayed in guest room 5 which has a beautiful fireplace and bathroom. Very spacious. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in and we are used to a king (room 5 has a queen). Remote control blinds. Digital shower. Light up make up mirror at a good height in the bathroom. Beautiful hard wood floors. No touches were missed. I would definitely recommend this inn to anyone staying in Wolfeboro.

We had a wonderful stay in the Pickering Room.

The whole inn was beautifully renovated. Our room was spacious and luxurious. Breakfast and the pastries at the coffee station were delicious. Would highly recommend!

Pickering House is a wonderful experience.

Warm, elegant, and exceptionally hospitable. A truly top-notch inn, with all the comforts of home and much, much more. A terrific place to stay in a charming town.
