Boating, swimming, beaching, stand up paddle boarding, water skiing, yoga, fishing, hiking…. August is prime-time for outdoor activities in the Lakes Region. Adding to the fun, Wolfeboro’s event calendar is chock full in this last full month of summer. Here are a few Wolfeboro events for August that you won’t want to miss if you are in town this month:

Street Fair
Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3: 10 am – 10 pm
This will be the 82nd year that the Hospital and Community Aid Street Fair is held in Wolfeboro, just a quick stroll from Pickering House Inn! The fair features booths, rides, food trucks, live music, an auction and more. Get information at their Facebook page: facebook.com/aidstreetfair 

Wright at Night
Tuesday, August 6: 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Enjoy local beer and mead tastings, live music and Wright Museum of World War II after hours! This is a 21+ event. Tickets are $20 ($10 for members). Visit the website

13th Annual Boathouse Tour on Lake Winnipesaukee
Thursday, August 8: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
As the only boathouse tour in the country, this is one of the New Hampshire Boat Museum’s most popular events. Each year’s tour includes a variety of boathouses – vintage and new, large and small. All of them have interesting or unusual features. And no two are alike.  Get info and purchase tickets 

Downtown History Walk
Saturday, August 10 and Wednesday, August 14: 10 am
Meet at the historic Train Station a quick walk from Pickering House Inn and take an informative walking tour sponsored by the Wolfeboro Historical Society. Visit the website

Paint Wolfeboro
Wednesday, August 14: All day with art sale 2:30-4:00 pm at Cate Park
Artists set up easels and paint outside either downtown, along the lakeshore or on one of Wolfeboro’s scenic walking trails. Visitors can watch works of art being created and can purchase pieces either during the day or from 2:30 to 4:00pm in Cate Park. A portion of the proceeds from art sales go to the Governor Wentworth Arts Council to fund arts programming. Visit the website 

Cate Park Concerts
Every Saturday: 7:00 pm
The bandstand at Cate Park is so close that you can enjoy music from the Inn’s front porch if you don’t want to take a two-minute stroll! Free concerts are held on Saturdays at 7 pm. Find out who is playing

August 31 from 5-7:30 pm
Wolfeboro’s art galleries throw open their doors to offer refreshments, live music and demonstrations.  The event is free and open to the public from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month through September.  More info
