The three historic buildings at Pickering Corner were known in the 1800's as "Bankers Row." Today, these properties are being rejuvenated for new uses and a new era. In addition to the Pickering House renovation, we're sure many of you have noticed the great new paint job on 136 S. Main Street, where Keller Williams Realty is located. The white building in between the two buildings is also going to be part of the transformation of Banker's Row!

The "White Building" had been on the market a few years back. When Peter and Patty Cooke bought Pickering House, they found that the corners of the White Building were actually ON the Pickering House property. Through property lines, proximity and history, the White Building and Pickering House were so intertwined that the Cookes began exploring the potential of purchasing the White Building. To both protect their investment in Pickering House and offer opportunities to expand upon the Pickering House experience at some point in the future, Peter and Patty bought the White Building in late 2016.

Over the past year, each of the three apartment tenants have made the decision to move to new homes. This past month, our friends from Beyond the Basics Salon also decided to consolidate and move to a new location at 90 Center Street.

So what's next for the White Building? For the short-term, we'll be using the building for our base of operations as Conneston Construction finishes the Pickering House renovation work and as our team gears up for the upcoming inn. Our opening will be here before we know it!

Many ideas are being considered for long-term uses for the White Building that will complement the Pickering House Inn. As plans solidify, we'll make sure to get accurate information out there. In the meantime, rest assured that the building will be retained and restored and there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that it will be turned into a parking lot.
