History Behind the Walls

As the renovation progresses, we can say with great confidence that every square inch of Pickering House has been uncovered and studied. We've found a treasure trove of historical items between the walls, as you can see in the photos below. We think these are probably the last of the finds in the walls, but the homestead's past will remain very much with us as we restore some of the original woodwork, marble mantels and the amazing old beams.

 Old sheet music owned by the Rollins family. Daniel Pickering's daughter, Caroline, married Charles Rollins in 1848. Caroline inherited her father's home and the Rollins family spent summers at Pickering House.
